About SCUPI:

Sichuan University - Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) is an academic entity jointly established by the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) in the U.S. and Sichuan University (SCU) in China. Officially approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of China in March 2014, SCUPI is one of the five institute-scale collaborative programs between leading universities in the U.S. and China. SCUPI stands out for its technical focus on advanced and sustainable manufacturing and offers three undergraduate majors in Industrial Engineering (IE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). The curricula at SCUPI is based on Pitt’s Swanson School of Engineering’s core curriculum and theyare instructed in English.The first class of SCUPI started in fall, 2015.

四川大学匹兹堡学院简介：

四川大学匹兹堡学院是由四川大学与美国匹兹堡大学合作成立的中外联合学院，是两所享有国际声誉的中美名校强强联合进行国际化办学的新模式。学院是教育部正式批准的中美大学合作机构层次的五所学院之一，引入了国际一流大学的办学理念、课程体系、师资力量及优质教育资源。融合两校的学术及教育的优势，四川大学匹兹堡学院致力于提供先进的工程教育。匹兹堡学院开设工业工程、机械设计制造及其自动化、材料科学与工程三个本科专业。学院按照匹兹堡大学工学院的课程设置用全英文进行授课，并从2015年开始招生。

Student Counselor (1)

Position Description:

The Student Counselor needs to devote significant efforts to recruiting, advising, and managing student affairs in the Institute. The Counselor plays an active and leadership role in coordinating student recruiting activities, which includes meetings, workshops, presentations and travel. Managing student affairs may follow the relevant guidelines provided by the University.

Duties and Responsibilities:

l  Fulfill basic job requirements of the counselor and manage student affairs based on University guidelines and coordinate with relevant university units

l  Serve as a focal point to communicate and coordinate student affairs between SCUPI and Sichuan University

l  Advise prospective students through school visit, telephone/video interview and email, and provide assistance throughout the admission process

l  Help students familiar with SCUPI curriculum and provide advice based on individual’s academic needs

l  Collect and maintain a variety of student data

l  Act as first-line interface between the Institute and students and parents

l  Provide students with career path, future placement and advanced studies information

l  Assist in carrying out student activities

l  Finish other tasks assigned by SCUPI and relevant university units

主要职责：

l  做好校院学生工作的沟通、协调和服务工作

l  向学生提供招生咨询及入学录取相关帮助

l  帮助学生熟悉学院课程并根据个人情况提供学术咨询

l  收集并处理学生数据信息

l  作为学院、学生及家长的联系纽带

l  为学生提供职业发展及研究生学习等相关方面的信息咨询

l  协助开展学生活动

l  完成学校相关部门及学院交办的其他工作

Qualifications:

l  Should be a Chinese Communist Party member with firm political stance, high ideological and political literacy and professional ethics

l  Passion for student work, strong sense of responsibility, willingness to contribute and good teamwork spirit

l  Master’s degree in Education, Public Relation, Communications or other related fields is preferred

l  Overseas diploma or working/intern experience from an English speaking country is a plus

l  Strong writing, communication and organization skills

l  High level of English proficiency

l  2-3 years’ experience working with students at the collegiate level is a plus

l  Ability and willingness to travel
